Our checklist for keeping your baby warm this cold season

Autumn is here, which means winter is just around the corner. Knitted sweaters, scented candles, big mugs of tea and warm blankets are soon on their way. But it's not just your home and wardrobe that needs to adapt to the colder weather. Your baby also needs to be autumn ready. So we’ve got together a checklist of all the things you should think about when keeping your little one cosy this chilly season.

The key to preparing for all weathers is layering. Having various layer possibilities means you can not only add warmth when needed but you can easily remove garments if your baby is too hot. A good trick is to start with what you 

 would wear eg. top, pants, socks etc, and then add a layer or two for your little one.

Have a thin layer of cotton or wool when it's really cold. Wool keeps the baby warm, while letting out heat. It also stays warm even if it gets damp.

Here add a warming layer if it's cold. For example, you can put on a pair of thicker trousers and a sweater, either fleece or wool.

When you're not using a footmuff or an all weather cover for your baby carrier, a coverall is useful for all-weather protection.

Your baby loses heat through their head, so always have a hat ready. And just like us, your baby's hands and feet will also be sensitive to the cold, so having mittens or gloves is a must.
