How to choose the right footmuff for your baby
Picking the right footmuff isn't always a walk in the park. It has to fit both you, your baby, and all kinds of weather. In general, you'll also want the footmuff to last through the seasons, be warm, comfortable, and have several usage areas.
There are a few things to consider when researching and picking out a footmuff. You are welcome to use this as a check list to make sure you make the right choice.
What to think about when choosing a footmuff
1. Does the footmuff have a universal fit?
There are enough baby products to tick off the shopping list. It can be nice (for both you and your wallet) to avoid buying multiple products that cover the same type of need. So it pays to get a footmuff that
a) is suitable for both newborn babies and slightly taller and larger toddlers
b) can be used in both a pushchair and a stroller, and perhaps even in your babynest
c) works for different seasons, weather, and clothing
A good tip is to test the footmuff in your stroller and/or pram to make sure it fits, both in terms of size and fastening. Double-check that the bag has holes for straps for easy fastening and, for example, an elastic cover to fold over the backrest. This way you can be sure that the footmuff will not slide down.
2. Is it easy to adjust?
Adjustability is really important in making sure you (and your baby) can use the footmuff when needed. It should fit both the pram and stroller, function during different weather types, and be size adjustable according to the baby’s age.
3. Does it have warmth and temperature regulation?
Choose a footmuff that you can adjust to suit the temperature and weather outside. Make sure that it's lightweight, airy, and can be modified to all weather conditions.
4. Does it have the quality, look, and functionality you like?
Choose a high-quality footmuff that is both easy on the eye and easy to use. In turn, you will be able to use it for several years to come (and can pass it on to the next generation).
