Noah

Alma

Alma, a Spanish name, carries meanings such as "soul", "beauty", and "depth". The name gained popularity in the 19th century and saw a resurgence in the 21st century. It has become increasingly common in Swedish preschools nationwide.   

William

William, a name we spotted on last year's leaderboard, is the English version of the German name Wilhelm, meaning "strong-willed protector". This could explain why it is often associated with success and leadership. A modern bearer of this name is William Ahlborg, a member of the music group "Bolaget". William's sister, Linn Ahlborg, is a well-known Swedish influencer who has gained a significant following on YouTube. Their song "Kan inte gå" was the most streamed song in Sweden in 2022, earning 4 times platinum status. 

Selma

"Selmor" is a name that has gained popularity in recent years. In some languages, it means "peace". This strong personality often leads to success, reminiscent of Selma Lagerlöf, the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature. Another notable Selma emerged in 2017 when popular Swedish YouTuber Helen Torsgården named her first daughter Selma. Liam, an Irish shortened version of the name William, has long been popular in many countries and is now gaining popularity in Sweden. This makes it both an international and trendy name. Alice

A popular name that is often seen high on the Swedish name list despite the dropping to fifth place in 2023 after being number one in 2022. As early as 1856, the name became increasingly popular, perhaps it has something to do with the premiere of Alice in Wonderland? A young and successful Alice we have at present is Alice Stenlöf, Swedish influencer and entrepreneur of whom we have seen together with Bianca Ingrosso. 

Nils

Nils is an old Nordic name- a short version of the name Nikolaus which means "victory of the people". Nils is known from Astrid Lindgren's classic story about "Nils Karlsson's tinkering", and  Selma Lagerlöf's story about "Nils Holgersson's wonderful journey through Sweden". It is a classic name that often draws on the nickname "Nisse". 

Signe

Signe is an Old Norse name meaning "the blessed one". She is known in ancient times from Norse mythology, as the betrothed of the viking Hagbard. From the beginning, the name was mainly used in Skåne, but from the 19th century it spread all over the country. At the beginning of the 20th century, the name was one of the most common girls' names in Sweden, and now we clearly see that the popularity is increasing again! An Ellie whose voice we have heard a lot on the radio in recent years is the singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding. Does the computer game "The Last Of Us" sound like something?
